With works by Pärt, Bach, Brahms and Rachmaninov, Igor Parfenov illuminates all the tonal colours of the grand piano. The young pianist studied at the conservatory in his home city of St. Petersburg and at the music academies in Wuppertal and Düsseldorf, where he completed a Master’s degree under Professor Lisa Eisner-Smirnova. He has previously participated in a variety of international competitions and festivals and has won multiple awards. Parfenov has also completed several masterclasses to round off his musical education.
He is an experienced répétiteur for choirs and soloists, and well versed in chamber music, Lieder accompaniment and Lieder composition.
This concert will mark the inauguration of the Historische Stadthalle’s new classic grand piano, a Steinway B from 1982 that has been thoroughly refurbished and restored by the Klangmanufaktur workshop in Hamburg.
